Sustainable Vodkas
A disclaimer: I don’t think that organically-grown or sustainably produced spirits are scientifically “healthier” than your average, run-of-the-mill alcohol. There is a debate about distillation procedures and grains/fruits used, and how they impact the taste and hangover potential etc., and I am all for that debate (preferably over a good cocktail or two). But key word here = debate 👈🏻
What I do know is that what we consume comes from the land we inhabit. I believe that how we treat that land, as well as the people that work the land and produce our favorite spirits, should be “respect-forward” & I get super excited when I find companies that are doing their level-best to produce great spirits, while treating their workers, the process and the land with care and compassion 💃🏼
3 of my fav sustainable vodkas are:
🍸 FAIR. organic quinoa vodka, which is deliciously smooth, with a slightly vegetal/mineral taste, pretty affordable, made from sustainably-sourced and fairly-traded non-GMO grains, certified gluten-free for those with allergies, & the company is committed to using no plastic at all by the end of 2022 👏🏻
🍸 loft & bear vodka, which has a smooth and buttery, slightly vanilla flavor & is made using sustainably-grown, certified organic winter wheat. Even better, it’s black-owned and hand-crafted in downtown LA. The company also partners with the non-profit PATH to fight homelessness, donating a percentage of each sale to provide support for distressed families, veterans affairs, and human services throughout Southern California🥂
🍸 Bainbridge Organic Distillers’ Legacy Vodka, a Seattle local, which sources organic grains from small farmers in WA for to make an incredibly smooth & deliciously crisp, light lemon flavor vodka 🍋
